Win A SporteeGal Fitness Journal at BornFit!

BornFit, the wonderful, fabulous line of fitness and maternity fitness clothes for women, is giving away a SporteeGal Fitness Journal!

I had coffee with Beckie from BornFit last week and really love the whole concept of their line. The clothes are fashionable, affordable and made specifically for us sporty gals - just like the SporteeGal Journals! It is also a women-owned company based here in Colorado, just like SporteeGal.

What's unique about BornFit too is that they have a line of fitness clothes for pregnant women. What a great idea! I wore huge t-shirts and sweatpants when I was pregnant and wanted to get out for a walk. Talk about unfashionable. BornFit's maternity line is so comfy and perfect for you fashionable moms-to-be out there.

I'm also excited because I'm going to feature a BornFit Skort on Ladies-Golf-Central.com. The skorts are perfect for lady golfers who want to look extra cute on the course (and that's a must with all those men on the golf course!). Stay tuned for that!

In the meantime, don't forget to enter BornFit's contest for the free journal! Be sure and register for their newsletter too!

Happy Friday!

Golfing Barefoot

I played in a golf tournament with my sister-in-law in Loveland last week. It was a complete blast. I played horrible, but I had a lot of fun (the real reason most of us gals play right?).

Me warming up!

I finally launched my new website, Ladies Golf Central, two weeks ago. LGC brings together resources, information and tips (from Letta Meinen!)specifically for female golfers. I have a whole page about ladies golf shoes and how important it is to have a good pair to help prevent slipping during your swing.

So, back to the tournament. I jump into the golf cart with my sister-in-law, who is a really good golfer, and she's barefoot. I asked her where her golf shoes were and she looked at me and said "I play barefoot".

I was a little speechless. Here I am talking about the important of good golf shoes on my site and Miss Awesome Golfer plays barefoot???!! That's Julie though, very no-nonsense. I love her! Here she is teeing off in her pedicured bare feet...

Did I mention she's a really good golfer? She's been playing since she was a kid. I asked her if she's ever owned a pair of golf shoes and she said no. I just laughed (of course the two Mike's Hard Lemonade's helped to make it even funnier).

I did try golfing barefoot for two holes, but I had to put my shoes back on. It just felt weird to me!

Do any of you ever golf barefoot? If so, tell me about it!

Happy Golfing ;).

Starting a Fitness Routine

I still have 8 pounds of "baby weight" to lose from my pregnancy. I keep floating around ideas of the last bit of weight in my mind, but I haven't done anything to act on it. But, I finally did it. I opened my very own SporteeGal Fitness Journal last night and started writing in it. It really is motivating when you put your goals down on paper.

My second reason for starting the journal is that I really should use it since I sell it to other people. I know it inside and out, but you don't really know a product until you use it.

I have to say, I'm pleasantly surprised. I knew it was a great journal, but it seriously is motivating and liberating to take control, write those goals down and have a plan. My only goal is not just to pitch the SporteeGal journal (not completely ;), but even if you just grab a blank page notebook from the grocery store and start writing your goals and activities in it, you'll be glad you did.

The other thing I noticed is that since I'm writing down everything I eat in the Nutrition section of the journal, I'm a little more careful about what I'm eating. I don't want to see "chocolate donut" or "M&M Blizzard" (my favs) in writing! It really holds you accountable. AWESOME!

Whether its a SporteeGal Fitness Journal, or blank pages, start that journal and watch your goals come to reality!

Journals for EWGA Event

Sharon from the Colorado EWGA (Executive Women's Golf Association) contacted me yesterday and asked if I'd be willing to donate 24 journals for an event they are having on Saturday. Of course I said yes. I love the EWGA. They are a great group of women.

If you're interested in getting involved with a fun group, join your local EWGA. When I first heard of them I thought you had to be 1) an executive (I assumed of some big corporation) and 2) you had to be a kick ass golfer. Neither is true. You can be at level with any job and join them. I'm a par 3 girl myself and I found they have a group for par 3's! Now I need to join!

I just packed up the journals, put the new SporteeGal pens in a nice little bag with a ribbon around it and sent them off. They looked so nice I wish I was receiving them ;).

Great time at the Sports & Fitness Expo in Denver

SporteeGal exhibited at the Colorado Sports & Fitness Expo in Denver last weekend. What a wonderful event. Great, friendly people who just couldn't say enough nice things about the new SporteeGal journals.

The event was held prior to the big Colorado Colfax Marathon which was held on Sunday.

I sold a nice mixture of journals. The most popular was the SporteeGal Fitness journal, but I sold a few golf journals, a couple triathlon journals and one marathon journal. Since it was a marathon event, I thought I'd sell the most of those! You just never know.

Now the search is on for the next great event...any suggestions?

SporteeGal on 9News

The wonderful Susie Wargin at 9News invited me back to talk about the new SporteeGal journals on her 6:20 sidebar on May 5th! I'm was so excited. I appeared on 9News back in December when I debuted the golf journal. I received tons of orders that day. It was so much fun and great exposure.

Susie was really helpful in the development of the triathlon journal. She's a triathlete, so her advice and tips were invaluable in the creation of that journal. She's so darn sweet too.

I tried to get the code for the video clip, but I'm not sure its working. You can always go to the 9News website and do a search for SporteeGal to see the video! I'll try and get the code for it so I can post it here soon. Stay tuned!

Letta Meinen - The Golfer Gal

Not only is Letta Meinen kicking off our SporteeGal profiles, she's the reason this section was even created. This woman impressed me so much, I couldn't wait to tell others about her.

I discovered Letta when I was browsing on Bellaonline.com one day. In case you're not familiar with Bellaonline, it's an online community for women. It covers just about every topic under the sun. Each area of interest has an editor who writes stories pertaining to that topic. I happened to be looking at the golf section, trying to find the editor so I can send a press release about the SporteeGal golf journal. That editor was Letta.

Letta is a passionate golfer. She LOVES the game. So much in fact, that she plays three to four times a week. She also schedules tee times a month in advance and sends the times to 22 friends who can pick and choose when they want to play (If I lived in Texas I would have to get myself on that list!). At night, she writes about golf for Bellaonline.com.

She has had SEVEN holes in one (unbelievable!) and has written four books - one about spices, one cookbook, a book on sayings and proverbs and a book on her family's sporting experiences. I'm trying to figure out when Letta sleeps! She appears to have the energy and passion of a teenager.

Letta is 83 years old.

Oh yes, and a few other things. Letta is involved with activities in her church, where she publishes their bulletins and organizes a women's study group. She is involved in a community chorus where she was president last year. She is also the Secretary to the Friends of the public library. Almost forgot, she also does the Newsletter for the Mill Creek Community Association and is on their board.

A quote from Letta, "Sometimes I meet myself coming and going but really have a full life and love it."

Letta's husband passed away in 2003. She has five children, nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She lives on a golf course (where else would this SporteeGal live??) in Texas.

Cheers to Letta! Thanks for being a SporteeGal and an inspiration to others!
